Wedi-quette Wednesday!

How is it the last day of July?! Time is a-flyin'! Maybe it also feels like summer is whipping by because we've had the weirdest weather! Seriously, it's all over the place! I have to say that I don't mind the cooler weather, I'm a fall gal myself, but it feels like September, not July!

As most of you know, I'm an avid reader. Some of my most popular posts have been my seasonal reading lists! I have been TEARING through books this summer. Now that I've moved to a new job, I find I have more time to read, since I seem to have more solo time. I definately miss the social aspect of my old employer, but change is good!

I thought, since we're coming up on a holiday weekend, there would be no better time then to throw a few book reviews up here, since I've really loved a lot of the books I've had the pleasure of picking up.

First up, Maine, by J. Courtney Sullivan

I'm pretty sure this puppy wasn't even on my radar. I could not put it down. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about the characters. I was so sad to see it end. It is the story of four women, a grandmother, a daughter, a daughter in law and a granddaughter. It follows each of them through a summer, rotating each chapter to be written in the voice of a different character. I adore books like this, it almost feels like a TV show. The book is set in NYC, Boston and Maine and spans over 60 years. Its truly a wonderfully interesting story and I highly recommend you add it to your list! I've add her other 2 books to mine and they should be on the way soon!

Revenge Wears Prada, by Lauren Weisberger

This was one that was on my reading list and I was not disappointed. When a sequal comes out its always a bit of a crap shoot. On the one hand it could be totally satisfying and on the other, it could ruin the entire story. This did not disappoint! I loved stepping into Andy's world again, I loved being worried about Miranda Priestly run in's at every turn! And Andy certainly stayed true to herself throughout this story. That is something that is hard to do, especially if its been a while since you've heard from an author. LOVED! If you liked the Devil, you will enjoy this sequal!

The Tao of Martha, by Jen Lancaster
                      

This was another one that was on my summer reading list. It arrived the first week of June and I couldn't wait to pick it up. It had me in pain from so much laughter. She is hilairous. I know I've shared my feelings around Ms. Lancaster before, I adore her. Plus she was doing things I genuinely love doing and wish I could spend more time trying. Like hosting awesome parties and getting crafty! She was so honest and she told such a compelling story about the health struggles they experienced with her dog. Being a dog owner myself, it was truly heart warming. I laughed, I cried and I wished I could have attended her parties! I can pretty much guarentee that you will want to be her best friend too!

Those are the ones that made the biggest impact on me so far. I've also read Beautiful Day, by Elin Hilderbrand and Wedding Night, by Sophie Kinsella. I LOVED both of those, not shocking, but couldn't find good photo's for their reviews. Beautiful Day was a lovely story about a young woman getting married, her mother had passed away earlier in her life and had left her a beautiful book about suggestions around planning her wedding, so it would still feel like her Mom was a part of her big day. Such a lovely read, so touching. Wedding Night was Sophie Kinsella's newest novel. Sophie has been one of my absolute favorite authors for well over a decade and she firmly remains there with her newest book. It was a funny story about two sisters. One was flighty, made questionable decisions and the other was always bailing her out. I don't want to give the story away, just do yourself a favor and pick it up!

I hope this provided some new books to add to your list, like I said, couldn't put any of these down!
