A Shower Fit for a Queen!

Happy beautiful sunny day my little readers! And Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful Mom's out there, mine especially!

I hope you're all out there enjoying some of this sunshine, I sure was! I hosted a tea party themed shower yesterday for the lovely Caroline and it went off without a hitch! Set up was a breeze, my ideas all came to fruition (which any event planner can attest to, is the BEST feeling) and the sun kept shining all day long! As previously mentioned in my blog, this shower was a tea party and after my Royal Wedding Fever (which I'm still not over of course) I couldn't have thought of a more fitting event to throw! The decorations included 2 giant potted hydrangea's, tons of tulips, Chinese lanterns and of course vintage tea cups! It was a terribly simple DIY event, the set up took some work of course, but its something  everyone could do for sure!

The menu was the part that took the most preparation:

  • tea sandwiches
  • veggie platter
  • fruit arrangement
  • teapot cookies
  • and of course...cupcakes!
While it doesn't sound difficult, its quite time consuming, but as any great hostess knows, the secret to success is help! And I certainly received it! My Nan spent the day with my Mom and I, teaching us how to make tea sandwiches, we made egg salad, ham salad and salmon with cucumber, I think my favorite part was using cookie cutters in the shape of hearts and teapots! How sweet! The shortbread cookies are simple to make! All that's needed is flour, icing sugar, butter, salt and vanilla! The recipe can be found at the joy of baking website! And the cupcakes, well these were my Mom's babies for the day, I decorated the backyard, she decorated the cupcakes, fair trade!
As you can see there is a tea cup shaped cupcake in the middle! I received those molds for my birthday and just adore them! Plus, I couldn't imagine a more fitting dessert for this shower! Such a fun afternoon to plan for, the thing I'm most pleased about? The weather holding out! Thank you weather gods!!! Lets hope the sunny weather is here to stay! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
