Weddi-quette Wednesday

Happy Hump Day! Today I am going a little bit outside of my usual wedding banter, to something I think is super important and still fitting, seeing as this is a blog and it's all about writing.

Today, I would like to talk about the power of words. I am currently reading "The Book Thief", if you haven't read this one yet, I urge you to pick it up. It is a beautiful story about the importance and the power of words. Set in Nazi occupied Germany, the story is told from the point of view of death and follows a young German girl. I won't give anything else away, but will say I am having trouble putting it down. Another great example of the power of words comes from one of my all time favorite books, "The Help". The main character Aibleen tells the children she nanny's "You is kind, you is smart, you is important". Those words have the power to lift a person higher, to believe in themselves, especially when they believe no one else is.

Words are used all day everyday, you have the choice whether they will be negative or positive and the choice actively affects how you make others feel. I've always been brought up to be a positive person, to speak with sincerity and hope that rubs off on those around me. I often hear "actions speak louder than words", I certainly agree with this statement, but don't want to downplay how powerful words can be. My good friend just heard those 3 little words strung together, for the first time from her boyfriend. The girl has been on cloud nine ever since, all because of 3 words. It is truly amazing.

One of the biggest things around weddings is 2 very important words that you cannot say enough - "thank you". I know I've done multiple blog posts on the importance of thank you's, so I won't delve into that today, just wanted to highlight the importance of them and reiterate how far a thank you can go.

So with that, I will leave you with this quote from my all time favorite actress, Audrey Hepburn.
